What has been going on?
It has been a really positive couple of weeks since my last update. Without changing much about my routine, the body has finally started to feel consistently healthy and pain-free. This allowed me to go on a multi-day bushwalk and make a tentative return to sport.
I have started to build my training in the last week in particular. Weather has been too good to go near a gym, but every day I either bushwalk, run or swim and if possible I do two of those things.
I have returned to competitive sport, but not contact sport. I have a fair bit of trust and confidence in my body once more. I will cautiously do a time trial at some point in the next week to get an idea about where I am at from a fitness perspective.
Lesson of the Week
Time is a great healer. I had been doing the same stretches and exercises for some time without seeing much improvement. Then with no change to my own behaviour, the improvement just started to happen. Sometimes things just take a little longer than you expect.
So as mentioned elsewhere, having done myself a pretty significant injury recently, I feel I am making some really good progress towards being healthy and a number of people have said they enjoyed the previous article. While it seems that the word, 'inspiration,' now belongs to people who post nearly naked photos posing on instagram, I hope this page can continue to be helpful to others. I thought I would keep a bit of a weekly journal of my continued journey (I cringed a little bit as I typed that word, thinking of how often it is used by reality tv contestants), including the progress I am making week to week, the work I am doing towards said progress and my observations of how things are going.
