Not since Crowded House have I seen this much fuss over chocolate cake. For anyone that has been lucky enough to miss the hysteria, Woolworth’s decision to decorate some of their cakes with the phrase, “Happy Special Person’s Day,” prompted an angry online response from one shopper, which garnered supportive overblown outrage from all the usual sources. Now you might well be thinking, “Checkmate, Quietblog,” after I said three days ago the stories about a push to rename Father’s Day were massively overblown. Or you could have done a bit of research instead, in which case you probably wouldn’t. Because if you read the articles you find (right at the bottom, long after the dramatic headline) that the photo in question had deliberately excluded the nearby cakes that had been decorated with traditional messages such as “Happy Father’s Day,” for maximum outrage and support.
Now many people would not bother reading the article as it is obvious clickbait. I wouldn’t have but since I had already written about the subject figured I better double check. However if you can’t be bothered reading the article, don’t try to form an opinion from a bloody headline. And don’t be the ignorant clown that forwards something you haven’t read- that just makes you look stupid.
